About the Run & the Symphony:

Skagit Symphony’s Park to Peak Run originated in 2016, but its roots go much deeper. For 18 years prior, the Symphony had put on the Smelt Run which traditionally took place at the end of January each year. Craving something different, something that embodied the beauty of Skagit and didn’t take place in dreary weather, three board members of the Skagit Symphony decided to branch out and the Park to Peak Run was born.

100% of profits from Park to Peak go directly to the efforts of the Skagit Symphony*, as we strive to bring beautiful music, education, and outreach to the young and young-at-heart of Skagit Valley and beyond.

*The Skagit Symphony is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, comprised of 98% volunteers, including our 60+ orchestra members, Board of Directors and all committees.

About the Race Team:

Lindsay McDermott has served on the Skagit Symphony Board of Directors since March 2015. She is the Office Manager as well as a CMA at David B. Benson, MD, PLLC. In her “spare” time, she hangs out with her husband and four kids or finds herself training for yet another crazy run. Her running repertoire includes full-marathons, half-marathons, and overnight relay races (Ragnar and Hood to Coast). You’ll find her at the start and finish line of Park to Peak wishing that she were running it with you!

Lindsey Spoor joined the Skagit Symphony Board of Directors in September 2016. She is the owner and operator of a new fiber arts shop in Stanwood, WA called Stilly River Yarns. When she isn’t purling, knitting, spinning, or teaching her clients, she is typically in her garden with her husband and two kids. Lindsey is new to running this year, but has taken it head-on, already with a 5K under her belt and Ragnar and a half marathon on the calendar before the year ends. At Park to Peak, you’ll likely find her with a camera around her neck and cheering everyone on.

Michal Whiton is the President of the Skagit Symphony Board of Directors, where she has been a member since November 2014. Michal is the lead Radiation Oncologist at Skagit Valley Hospital. At the end of the day, she transforms from Dr. Whiton to Dr. Mom when she goes home to her two small children and her hubs. Michal has just started lacing up her running shoes again after the birth of her son, but her running resume includes a plethora of races all over the country. On race day, you’ll see Michal anywhere and everywhere, including rubbing elbows with Bach himself…
